Honoring Leadership and Service: Nominations Now Open for the Ernest Broadwell Legacy Award

The Fayette County Democratic Committee (FCDC) is proud to announce that nominations are officially open for the prestigious Ernest Broadwell Legacy Award.

This annual honor celebrates an outstanding leader who exemplifies the ideals of the Democratic Party and embodies the extraordinary qualities we have long admired and cherished in Ernie Broadwell: integrity, courage, selfless service to the community, passion, coalition building, a steadfast commitment to citizen participation, and a proven ability to mentor others.

Reserved for those who represent the best of their generation, this award recognizes individuals with an extensive history of exemplary work for the Fayette County Democratic Committee, extraordinary accomplishments, and a proven record of doing what is best for our community, state, and nation in the highest tradition of Democratic values and public service.

Award Criteria & Eligibility

To be considered for the Ernest Broadwell Legacy Award, nominees must meet the following standards:

• Exemplary FCDC Service: An extensive and proven record of dedicated leadership and impactful work within the Fayette County Democratic Committee.


• Demonstrated Character: A stellar record of personal integrity, selfless public service, courage, and commitment to mentoring and lifting others up.


• Community Impact: Meaningful contributions to coalition building, civic engagement, and grassroots mobilization that advance Democratic ideals across Fayette County and beyond.


• Selection Policy: This award is presented annually based on a nominee meeting all established criteria, as determined by the Awards Selection Committee. If no nominee meets the standard of qualification in a given cycle, presentation of the award will be postponed until the following year.

How to Submit a Nomination

• Who Can Nominate: Nominations are open to all FCDC members in good standing.


• Submission Requirements: Please include the nominee’s full name, contact details, and a brief statement outlining how their service, accomplishments, and character fulfill the award criteria.


• Nomination Window: Open now through October 7th.
